Julia was born in Barry, Waleson the 29th of September 1961. Julia suffered from bronchopneumonia as a child {bronchopneumonia is when the acute inflammation of the walls of the wall of the bronchioles. It is a type of pneumonia peculiarized by multiple foci of isolated, acute consoildation, affecting one or more pulmonary lobules}. So her parents were told it would aid Julia's recovery if they were to live in a warmer climate so in 1966 at the age of 5 Julia and her parents John and Moira and her sister {who is 3 years older} Alison settled in Adelaide.

Julia's dad worked as a psychiatric nurse, and her mum worked at the local Salvation Army nursing home. Alison and Jullia attended Mitcham Demonstration School, and Julia went to attend Unely High School and studied at the University of Adelaide. Julia had to cut her courses short in 1982 when she moved to Melbourne to work with the Australian Union of Students.

In 1986 Julia graduated from the University of Melbourne with a degree in Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws. In 1987, Julia joined the law firm Slater & Gordon at Werribee, Melbourne, working in industrial law. At the age of 29 in 1990, she was admitted as a partner. Julia isn't all work and no play she is happy to give a baby a hug like in this video.
